this morning, driving to work away, i got just under the freeway overpass where i turn left onto the entrance ramp. It's a point where 6 lanes of vehicles converge...two directions of a frontage road, the East to West road i was on the West to East opposite lane that comes down (or goes up to) a very large truck stop gas station, restraurant, travel junk store, they have showers for truckers etc...BIG, and as i made the left onto freeway entry i see in the almost center of this hub a very small orange and white form. Like the size of a tennis ball with legs...but you couldn't see the legs, but it was moving, in startled jerky movements just a few inches then another direction then then and it was a kitten. I pulled to a stop half in and half out of the road, a giant semi had just begun the descent down the hill and i ran and then slowed as i approached it, and it was screaming and as i reached down it flattened itself but didn't run and it didn't struggle as i picked it up and held it close going back to the car and putting it on the passenger seat where it immediately left and went Under that seat but without a sound. When i got the 20 some minutes away, i pulled it out and put it in Martha's laundry room. There is already a cat litter box and cat bowls but i gave it a low shallow bowl of water. Then i worked. When finished, i sat on the floor calling, but nothing. Am pretty sure it went back behind her washing machine. I left her a note. Asking forgiveness.
all the Mallow is beginning to bloom. From today, i will always associate that plant to Luck. That kitten had the GREATEST of LUCK.
