the color, the texture, the beingness of this Earth here.
at first, in my mind, i thought Ponderosa Pine...because it was familiar, but, looking, Not. The Law's Field Guide To The Sierra Nevada, the key words: sparce, multi branched crowns. Large, heavy cones with savage spines. savage. give away. Foothll or Gray Pine.
do i call them spines?...they are like petals of a kind. Individually pulled loose and off and wrapped in the cotton cloth, set in a jar of water a week or so. Color of Earth. Fugitive? i don't know. i googled some but came up with nothing. But Pine. I am guessing strong Tannin. Only can wash and hang on cloth line in Sun.
